Ok, so I stepped outside of the design box a little bit on this one. I wanted to do a steel grey cake! Doesn’t sound too appetizing does it? Well, who cares. I still wanted to do it so, I did. This cake is covered in light grey fondant and then I pearlized it with white sugar pearl luster dust. I then piped a white beaded border around the base of each layer. I cut out large organic flower petals and placed them all over the front of the cake starting at the top, and cascading down the front, flaring out at the base. I then placed sugar pearls on the inside of some of the petals and then lustered all the petals to give a pearl finish to them. This is a very couture wedding cake and I love the result. Not for every bride. I love the hard contrast of the color of the steel fondant and the softness of the petals.
