CHANDELIER

This cake was inspired by the swags of a chandelier I saw in an antique shop in Houston, Tx.  It is piped in a copper/tan royal icing.

On April 25th, 1992, Jay Qualls decorated his first cake for his daughter’s first birthday party. Little did he know that experience would blossom into a passion for creating delicious, beautiful and distinctive cakes. Since then, this passion turned into a full time successful business known as Maples Wedding Cakes, now Jay Qualls Cakes and creator of the Jay Qualls Fondant Fabric.

After graduating in 2003 from Middle Tennessee State University with a business degree, Jay decided to put both his new found business expertise and his passion for baking and designing to good use and open a high end wedding cake boutique. With his belief that cakes should not only be beautiful, but equally as delicious, Jay quickly turned Maples Wedding Cakes into a leader in custom designed wedding cakes. He has studied and worked alongside some of the greatest sugar artists in the industry.  Jay, himself, continues to be one of the leaders in the cake industry with his unique sense of style in cake design, teaching, product development, and business consulting.  He has starred in two national television shows, The Next Great Baker, Season 1, and Season 2 of ABC's hit reality show The Taste.  He continues to step outside the box to push the limits with his prolific style dynamic personality.  

Jay is one of the premiere bakers in America, specializing in couture wedding cakes. Whether your style is elegant, simple, whimsical, or traditional, he can design a one-of-a-kind cake to accommodate your unique style and taste.

The Day of Your Tasting Appointment

The tasting is your opportunity to learn about Jay Qualls. To get the most out of your time with our cake designer, we ask that you come prepared with a budget and your design ideas. Bring photos, magazine clippings, pictures from the web, fabric swatches, or ideas of what type of cake you would like for your special day. Appointments typically are 30 to 60 minutes. This is one of a few differences that sets Jay Qualls apart from other bakers – most of our cakes are original and unique, quite truly a works of art.

We typically provide our delicious flavors of sourcream almond pound cake, strawberry, lemon pound cake, and double chocolate at your tasting. If you would like to taste specific flavors, please let us know in advance. We may not be able to fulfill your flavor requests with less than 3 days notice since cakes and fillings are always made fresh and specifically for you.

Due to the nature of the visit and the time constraints, we ask that children not attend if at all possible.

Our base price starts at $6.50 per serving and is determined by design
